What got you here, won’t get you there

"[…] is what our ancestors have known for thousands of years: “sic transit gloria mundi”– i.e. so passes the glory of the world. In other words, all glory is fleeting. All victory is temporary."

You have achieved to put your house in order and YES! That is a great victory! It is a feat worth celebrating!

Now what? Take a moment to look at how far you’ve come and sit with it for a while.

Is it how you imagined it would be like? Feel like?

Is this happily ever after?

You might notice the arrival fallacy hanging out in the back, snickering at the chances of relapsing back into clutter. The key to lasting happiness does not lie in an organized home. How you decide to live from now on, the choices you make, the habits that you will incorporate, are what will help you shape your future.

The physical transformation that your home underwent combined with all the internal struggles that you overcame are the experiences that is going to empower you to keep your space in order. The work that you put into shifting your mindset will increase the chances for the results to become habits.

The process is where the real magic happens.

The long term goal of decluttering is to find what is important to you. It is to cultivate a life that is true to you. It is an ongoing journey of choosing yourself and what is good for you.

The relationship you build with your home is one of mutual respect. A safe place where you can honour your belongings and where the home can nurture you.

And then you can make your way to There.

The road to There is purpose.

When you aim for There, you will continue forward while the chances of rebounds are slowly disappearing in the rear view mirror.
